The Bulls’ season comes to an end in Bowling Green

UB’s women’s soccer was defeated by Bowling Green during the MAC semifinals on Friday with a 2-1 loss.

UB women’s soccer (9-8-3) lost 2-1 to Bowling Green (14-5-2) in the Mid-American Conference semifinals Friday.

The Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead when senior midfielder Chelsee Washington converted on a penalty kick in the 18th minute. Freshman midfielder Katie Cox added to that lead in the 25th minute, scoring on a pretty pass from sophomore forward Sarah Allen. The Falcons outshot the Bulls 11-4 in the first half.

Junior midfielder Marcy Barberic got Buffalo on the board with a penalty shot goal in the 80th minute. UB goalkeeper Emily Kelly kept the Bulls in the game, making four critical saves in the second half, with Buffalo’s coaching staff naming her Player of the Match.

The Falcons advanced to the MAC Championship Game for the third consecutive season. They will take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles in Bowling Green, OH Sunday.

The Bulls finish the 2019 season with a 9-8-3 record. They went 5-4-2 against conference foes and 6-2-1 at home.
