Senior guard CJ Massinburg drives for a layup. Massinburg led the Bulls with 43 points in a victory against West Virginia that vaulted them into the Top 25.

The Bulls are ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the first time in school history.

Coming off their win against No. 13 West Virginia, the Bulls received 154 votes in the first regular season poll. West Virginia finished 26th with 145 votes.

"This is a great feat for the players that are here and the players that have been here in the past that helped build this," said head coach Nate Oats. "If we hadn't beaten Arizona last year in the NCAA Tournament, I don't know that people would be talking about us the way they are so it's a tribute to the guys we have on this team that people all over are starting to recognize how hard we play and what we have been able to accomplish here at Buffalo."

Buffalo followed up the honor with a 62-53 victory against the Southern Illinois Salukis.

The Bulls will play against Marquette and Syracuse in December. They are currently ranked 24th and 15th, respectively.

Lansing State Journal writer Graham Couch pushed the Bulls into the top-25. He ranked the Bulls the highest of any writer in the country at No. 7. No other voter had Buffalo higher than 12.

The Bulls return to action on Nov. 21 against Dartmouth. The home game tips off at 7 p.m.
