UB Stadium's field turf was changed to reflect the "New York" wordmark in the summer of 2014. UB announced the end of the wordmark on Tuesday, with new logos and marks emphasizing "Buffalo" for UB Athletics.

UB announced the end of the athletics department's "State University of New York Buffalo" wordmark on Tuesday, with new logos for UB sports teams as part of a university-wide branding initiative.

UB Athletics' "New York" wordmark was a controversial subject for fans and alumni, as it put large emphasis on the word "New York" with the word "Buffalo" barely visible underneath. Those same fans and alumni took to Twitter on Tuesday to make their feelings on the change and end of the wordmark known.
