"Quick Hits: Volleyball and women's soccer begin MAC play, Roberts scores in double overtime"

Volleyball (12-4, 2-0 Mid-American Conference)

The Bulls went 2-0 in their first weekend of MAC play, defeating Bowling Green (3-11, 0-2 MAC) Friday and Miami Ohio (8-6, 1-1 MAC) Saturday. Buffalo did not lose a set all weekend and are now on a 12-set winning streak and a five-game winning streak.

Junior outside hitter Tahleia Bishop recorded team-high 18 kills on Friday. She had nine kills in the final match, in which Buffalo trailed 17-13 before going on a 7-3 run to take the match in straight sets.

The Bulls next game will be at Ohio (9-4) on Friday. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Men’s Soccer (2-7)

Buffalo lost 5-0 to Cornell (6-2-1) Saturday. The Bulls’ defense and senior goalkeeper Waleed Cassis allowed five goals in the game. The offense produced just four shots on goal.

The Bulls play Houghton (5-4) Wednesday on the road at 7 p.m.

Women’s Soccer (6-2-1, 2-0 MAC)

The Bulls defeated Kent State (6-3, 1-1 MAC) 2-0 to begin MAC play on Friday behind two early first-half goals.

Buffalo took the field Sunday against Ohio (4-6, 1-1 MAC) and the game went into double overtime still tied at zero. In the 108th minute, senior forward Katie Roberts found an opening in the box and scored the game-winning goal. It was Roberts’ second goal of the weekend.

The Bulls’ next game is Friday against Bowling Green (1-8, 0-2 MAC) at UB Stadium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
