Before Friday night’s game, freshman goalkeeper Laura Dougall had yet to lose a game or even concede a goal in her career. But that all changed after Cornell (4-1) fired three past her in a 3-2 Buffalo loss.
The Bulls (4-2-1) took an early lead Friday night but allowed three second-half goals to drop their last nonconference game of the season. It was Dougall’s first game back in net following an injury sustained two games ago.
The Bulls lost the lead when Cornell scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. The Bulls tied it up less than five minutes later but then allowed a goal with a little over six minutes left in the game. The goal proved to be the game-winner.
The Bulls took an early lead lead in the 12th minute when freshman midfielder Julia Benati scored her first career goal.
Cornell’s Carolin Growney and Elizabeth Crowell scored only eight minutes apart in the second half to take the lead. The Bulls equalized less than five minutes later when senior forward Katie Roberts scored her second goal of the season off of a pass from junior midfielder Kassidy Kidd. Crowell scored her second goal of the game in the 84th minute to give Cornell the victory.
The Bulls travel to Kent State (4-2) to begin Mid-American Conference play Friday. The game is set for 4 p.m.
