The Metalocalypse reignites

Resurrected from the deepest, darkest level of Hell, the most brutal band in the word has returned. The band members of Dethklok don't really exist, in a sense, but the music is real.

Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, creators of the Adult Swim show Metalocalypse, have once again outdone themselves by not only creating a brilliant television show but also seamlessly translating the music and humor from it into a masterful metal album, Dethalbum III.

Dethalbum IIIbuilds on the musical evolution of Dethalbum II with a stunning range of music found in every facet of each song.

One of the best parts of a Dethklok album is getting to see how Small transmutes the short segments of music featured on the show to full-length songs.

"Starved" and "Killstardo Abominate" have a brutal, dirty sound that taps into the darker musical side of metal. In contrast, "The Galaxy" and "Rejoin" employ a relatively subtle approach by using extended openings and epic riffs that transport you to the arcane.

In many of the songs, the music will shift in an instant from low rapid-fire bursts of drums and vocals to long, high guitar notes that would transpose a mosh pit into a sea of waving lighters.

One elementpresent throughout the entire album is the epic guitar solos. The solos in "Biological Warfare" and "Skyhunter" possess jazz-like improvisational qualities that challenge the boundaries of the genre.

No Dethklok album would be complete without an injection of dark satirical humor. From disgustingly hilarious tracks like "I Ejaculate Fire" to the outrageously blasphemous "Impeach God," Small's cleverly crafted lyrics add a dimension often overlooked in metal.

For $2 extra, fans can purchase the deluxe version of Dethalbum III, which boasts a DVD packed with hilarious animated music videos for "I Ejaculate Fire" and "The Galaxy." The DVD also has a 30-minute behind-the-scenes documentary detailing the creation of the album.

Metal addicts rejoice and raise your horns because the king has returned. If you are a fan of Metalocalypse or just love the genre, this album will be your metal insulin.
