"Live Strong, Lance Armstrong Picks up MacFarlane's Slack"

Though Seth MacFarlane is best known around campus for his hysterical voice acting in, and creation of, animated comedy kings American Dad! and Family Guy, his late cancellation to UB's Distinguished Speakers Series may just change his previously untarnished reputation.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, SA announced MacFarlane's cancellation and his subsequent replacement by renowned cyclist and motivational speaker Lance Armstrong. A seven-time Tour de France winner and cancer survivor, Armstrong is bringing his brand of inspiration to Alumni Arena on April 28 at 8 p.m.

"We were disappointed to find out that Seth MacFarlane cancelled but I think that Lance Armstrong is a distinguished speaker who the Student Association has tried t go after for years and we're really grateful to get him," said SA President JoAnna Datz.

As with the other speakers, the last installment of the 2011-12 Distinguished Speakers Series is free for UB undergraduates and GSA-represented graduate students. Other attendees will need to pay $22 for general admission.

Ticket distribution times have not yet been announced.
