To the Editors:
Thank you for your reporting and editorial coverage of Provost Satish Tripathi's appointment and the closed search for UB's next President. It's great to see more people on this campus stepping up and asking difficult questions.
For too long, the student body has been expected to accept the dictates of the administration, both on our campus and at the statewide level. In light of the impending budget cuts, talk of "rational tuition increases" with no questioning of the assumption of tuition hikes, and the opaque processes through which these decisions are made, we need to start asking hard questions of the people in charge of our educations, jobs, and futures. The discourse in New York State around higher education needs our voices, and it needs to change.
Thank you for being courageous in asking these questions, and please continue this important work.
