Associate professor elected chair of national institute



The Council of Societies is a branch of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) and deals with public policy issues.

According to Meyers, AIMBE's mission involves promoting public health care in the United States and around the world.

Previously Vice Chair for the last two years, Meyers is enthusiastic about her new position.

"I'm interested in public services. This position will help me ensure politicians in congress understand health care issues. Considering there are few that understand the issues Congress, it's essential I talk with the politicians," said Meyers.

Among Meyers other responsibilities, she is charged with organizing the members of the Council of Societies efforts in order that politicians are not being bombarded with information.

Meyers is also in charge of alleviating conflicts within the Council. Nevertheless, this position is a stepping-stone in Meyer's career.

"This opens the door for future opportunities and this is just a part of my career," said Meyers.

Meyers stressed the position and is not finalized yet.

Meyers sits on the board of directors for AIMBE a position she's sure to keep.

Other branches of AIMBE that work with the Council of Societies are the College of Fellows, the Academic Council, and the Industry Council.

The Council of Fellows deals with biological issues, while the Academic Council regulates educational programs for Graduate and Medical students in order to ensure excellent health care in the future. The Industry Council is a collection of companies that are interested in health care issues.
