Theme: Graduation
Current: "Ghost World" (2001)
Upon graduating, Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlet Johansson) don't know what to do with their lives. Rebecca gets a job at Starbucks and Enid leeches onto a middle-aged man played by Steve Buscemi. The insecure, uncertain and altogether lost sketch of recent graduates, though depressing, is a refreshing and realistic portrait of post-graduation.
Classic: "American Graffiti" (1973)
Set in the early '60s, George Lucas' film follows a group of teens (including those played by Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss and Harrison Ford) on their last night in town before heading off to college. It's sure to evoke nostalgia of old sweethearts, your first car, and the group of friends that is no more.
