Nothing plain about the Plain White T's

Move over Fall Out Boy, because the pop-punk genre has just added another up-and-coming band to its roster. Chicago's latest sensation Plain White T's have released their sophomore album "Hey There Delilah," due out May 9 from Fearless Records.

The EP features four new songs and both studio and live versions of the title track, which is a notable single.

Composed of front man Tom Higgenson, drummer De'Mar Hamilton, guitarists Dave Tirio and Tim Lopez, and bassist Mike Retondo, these boys have what it takes to make an infectiously catchy punk album.

"Hey There Delilah" is a soft, guitar-based emo ballad, in which frontman Tom Higgenson sweetly longs for his love a thousand miles away in New York.

"Times Square can't shine as bright as you," Higgenson sings.

The song "Hey There Delilah" is sure to be a hit with the girls, especially the live version. It's quite obvious this band has a devout following, because Higgenson barely has to sing the song in order to be awarded with the clamoring cheers of the love-happy ladies.

The rest of the album is composed of harder punk jams. Produced by Sean O'Keefe, who also produced for Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights and Motion City Soundtrack, this album's sound falls right in line.

The song "Losing Myself" tries to bring in some harmony from the rest of the band, but it has an almost garage band feel to it. They make up for it with "If I Told You," which sounds like The Beatles' "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" with a punk flair.

This album is a solid EP. Look for Plain White T's on The Vans Warped Tour this summer where they're sure to be a huge hit.
