This letter is in response, or defense, if you will, to (Anessah Brown's) Letter to the Editor on Friday ("Letter urging minorities to leave U.S. was ignorant").
The fact that you completely misconstrued my article offended me. Please do not feel that I am encouraging immigrants to leave the country. I simply stated that those who do not feel comfortable living in the United States abiding by our safety laws can choose another place to live.
I can tell you that I have done my share of traveling to other lands and there have been plenty of times that I have had to adjust to different customs, laws, regulations, etc. The idea never once crossed my mind that I should rebel against another's way of life simply because I expected certain freedoms that I am used to in my home country. The same should go for you.
In fact, I had a female friend who thought twice (before) traveling to the Middle East simply because of the fact that she would be treated and expected to act much different than she is accustomed to here in the United States. Please do not assume I am affiliated with a political party or compare me to those of the past for which you were not a part of based off of my beliefs on government security and the protection of not only my life but yours as well. I happen to be one of the biggest liberals you might ever meet. P.S., ignorance is bliss.
