"Lineup for Spring Fest finalized, Jadakiss confirmed"

The final Spring Fest lineup is set in stone for Saturday's concert.

Student Association officials confirmed that Snoop Dogg, Jadakiss, Cassidy and Elephant Man will appear, and will perform at Alumni Arena.

After some contract issues with rapper Jadakiss, SA Entertainment smoothed out the kinks. Having signed a contract Friday, Jadakiss is set to perform with the other three acts this weekend in Alumni Arena.

"We wanted four artists at Spring Fest, and we are definitely pleased with the lineup," said SA Vice President Dela Yador. "It's a little something for everybody. Snoop is a little older school, Jada is a little more hardcore, Elephant Man is reggae, and Cassidy is a little something for the ladies."

Yador said Jadakiss will be performing two shows on Saturday -- one earlier in New Jersey and then Spring Fest that night.

Despite rumored problems between Snoop Dogg, Jadakiss, and The Game, who dropped from the original fest lineup, there are no immediate problems between the two acts still set to perform, Yador added.

"To my knowledge, it should be a peaceful lineup," Yador said.

UB student and emcee Rhyson Hall, a senior psychology major, will be the opening act for Spring Fest.

"It's cool for a UB student to perform at the show," Yador said.

Hall said Spring Fest will be his second opening up for a national act. Hall opened up for hip-hop artist Common in the fall at McKinley High School in Buffalo.

"I'm excited," Hall said. "It's a big opportunity from the publicity alone, and it's a good way to get my name out there."

For the show, Hall will be performing a 30-minute set with three original songs and a DJ set with DJ Cutler. Hall will also perform with Gr& Phee, a fellow artist on the record label Deep Thinka Records.

Out of the songs he will be performing, Hall said his favorite is "Trying To Get Up." Hall said it's a song about experiences he and his friends have gone through, and remembering there's always going to be problems you have to bounce back from.

Hall said he is pleased with the overall Spring Fest lineup.

"I think it's cool," he said. "I'm surprised we got big-name acts. Obviously everyone's not going to like it because there's not a rock band, but I like all of them and I'm excited about it."

DJ Kast One of the Heavy Hitters will mix in-between artist sets, Yador said.

Originally, the fest was planned for an outdoor location at Baird Point, but due to recent weather patterns, Yador said the show will be held in Alumni Arena.

Tickets are free to undergraduate students with a valid UB ID. For non-students, tickets are $30 and can be purchased in advance on Tickets.com or at the Alumni Arena box office.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m.
