The University at Buffalo's annual Blue-White football scrimmage has been cancelled due to the poor weather that has been plaguing Buffalo as of late.
The game was originally scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at UB Stadium.
UB will instead perform a regular workout inside the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse. The practice will not be open to the public.
Phil Vanhorne of the baseball team, and Wendy Rose of the women's tennis team have been named the UB Male and Female Athletes of the Week.
Vanhorne exploded against LeMoyne College last week, hitting 6-9 with four RBIs, a stolen base and three runs scored in a doubleheader against the Dolphins. It was a career day for him. He leads Buffalo in seven offensive categories, including batting percentage (.346) and hits (27).
Rose earned her first MAC victory of the year in taking out Akron's Meredith Carey, 7-5, 7-6 (3). Her win came in the sixth singles spot, and although she was victorious, the Zips had the last laugh as they toppled the Bulls 4-3.
On Thursday night, the Buffalo Bisons were finally able to play a game on the baseball diamond. It was their first game since last weeks home opener. Inclement weather had caused numerous cancellations in the past week for the Bisons.
They were able to defeat the Ottawa Lynx by a score of 7-5 at Lynx stadium, thanks in part to a huge fifth inning where they scored five runs.
They had trailed 3-0 heading into the fifth, but Coco Crisp got things rolling when he batted in the first run of the night for the Bisons. Then, with the bases loaded, Jody Gerut tripled, putting the Bisons up for good. Brian Tallet pitched the win for the Bisons, going five and two-thirds innings to earn his first victory on the season.
