Buffalo captured the co-championship of the Florida International Tournament over the weekend, defeating the host team FIU 2-0 Sunday. The Bulls share the title with Tennessee, who defeated Furman 5-0 in the other semi-final game on Sunday. Due to Tennessee's travel schedule, no championship game was played. The Bulls defeated Tennessee on the first day of the tournament.

Pitcher Stacy Evans threw a complete game for her third win of the season, striking out eight batters. Evans allowed one earned run in 27 innings of work in the five-game tournament.

The Bulls finished the tournament with a 3-2 record.

Baseball

Duke pitcher Kevin Thomps was one out away from a perfect game on Sunday, but with two out in the top of the seventh and final inning, UB's Brandon DiCesare hit a single to end the perfection. Thomps struck out the next hitter as his team defeated the Bulls in game one of a doubleheader, 10-0.

Duke scored two runs off just one hit in the first inning on UB pitcher Jeff Loveys and went on to beat UB 3-2 in game two of the doubleheader. Loveys walked a man, hit a batter, and threw a pair of wild pitches in the first inning of his first collegiate start.

The Bulls split a doubleheader with Duke on Saturday, finishing 1-3 on the weekend.

Women's Soccer

National Letters of Intent were signed by four players with the mindset to attend the UB next year. They will be playing for the Bulls' women's soccer team.

As told by head coach Jean-A Tassy, the four players are Kristin Lawson, Jessica Roesch, Michele Roth and Jennifer Thompson.

Lawson is a midfielder/defender from Rochester, NY, and Roesch is a midfielder/attacker from Centennial, CO, who Tassy believes will bring some force to the Bulls.

Roth is an attacker from Akron, NY and Thompson is a goalkeeper from Chargrin Falls, OH.

"We are extremely excited about having these four student-athletes join our program," said Tassy.
