Women's Swimming

The women's swim team lost in a thriller on Saturday to Cornell 156-135. The result of the meet was in question until the final race, in which Cornell was able to stride ahead.

UB's Jennefer Brankovsky was able to tally three of the Bulls' seven victories in the 16-event match. She won every single breastroke event and was also able to win the 200 individual medley in a season-best 2:07.67, shaving more than a full second off of her old record.

Buffalo's Jolie Pun and Trina Sinclair were able to win a couple of races each. Pun took a pair of middle-distance free-style races and Sinclair took first in the 1000-meter freestyle and 50-meter freestyle

Track and Field

Two Buffalo Bulls were able to score new records when UB's top track and field athletes competed in the intense and competitive Armory Collegiate Invitational, which was held in New York City.

Jerimie Slick toppled his own record in the 5,000 meters when he finished fifth overall with a 14:29.76 mark, eight seconds better than his previous mark set in 2001.

Biaunca McFarland also broke her own record and in turn also set a new meet record when she won the triple jump event. McFarland was able to set a distance of 41-10, downing her old mark of 41-7.75, which she scored only two weeks. That winning jump was almost two feet better than the meet record that she broke.

Buffalo Bandits

It was a clean sweep over the weekend for Buffalo's indoor lacrosse team. The Bandits won on the road at Albany Saturday night, 16-11, then defeated the New York Saints 16-10 at the HSBC Arena Sunday afternoon.

Against Albany, last year's top National Lacrosse League team with a 14-2 record, Buffalo scored the only five goals of the fourth quarter to pull out a win.

The Bandits have the league's best record at 8-1. They have two weeks off before hosting Rochester on March. 7.
