An Experiment in Romance


Now is your chance to determine the content of your student paper. Based on your votes, The Spectrum will send one guy and one girl on a series of three blind dates, culminating on ValentineOs Day and followed the entire way by a Spectrum reporter and photographer. The guy with the most votes and the girl with the most votes will be The SpectrumOs Blind Valentines.






























Girls

Carmen is a freshman history major who plans to pursue a career in teaching. SheOs originally from Walden, N.Y., and loves movies, shopping and Ohanging out and having fun.O This 19-year-old loves music, but she says she canOt decide on a favorite band. Her favorite restaurant is ApplebeeOs.





Kimberly comes to frosty UB from Orange, Calif., and majors in biomedical sciences in preparation for a career as a physician. SheOs a senior, and in her spare time, she works in the emergency room at the Erie County Medical Center and as a lab assistant at UB.


Her hobbies include playing the guitar and piano, and vocal performance. She loves kicking back at FahertyOs on Elmwood Avenue.





\tNaomi, a junior from Mt. Vernon, N.Y., is a psychology major on her way to becoming a teacher or therapist. In her spare time, she loves horseback riding and learning to snowboard.


Italy is among the many countries Naomi has visited, where she got a taste of real Italian food, her favorite type. On campus, Naomi can be found in the bookstore, where she works, or in Porter Quad, where she is currently an RA.





Seana is a senior pharmacy major from Rochester, N.Y., who loves dancing and soccer. SheOs a world traveler who has been to parts of Europe and St. Thomas. In her spare time, this 21-year-old works at Eckerd pharmacy. She loves the Dave Matthews Band and her favorite restaurant is GabrielleOs Gate in Allentown.





\tVicki is a 21-year-old chemistry major from Amherst who loves yoga, inline skating and judo. SheOs a senior and works as a research assistant with plans to become a research chemist.


Unless Rochester and Canada count as long-distance traveling, Vicki says she sticks pretty close to home. She loves Bon Jovi, and she canOt get enough of the coffee at Starbucks.




































Guys




Steve, a 20-year-old junior from Poland, N.Y., is majoring in digital art and hopes to go into advertising. He is involved in several intramurals, including soccer, indoor basketball, volleyball and softball. Other hobbies include hanging out with friends, movies and music. Steve has traveled throughout the United States and to France. He listens to New Found Glory and likes to eat at Olive Garden.






Garry is a sophomore biochemistry major from Scarsdale, N.Y. The 19-year-old said he Olove(s) to entertain and be entertained.O Garry has traveled to Mexico and Europe and says he likes doing Oanything and everything.O GarryOs favorite local restaurants are Showguns and Hibachi House, and his favorite band is Led Zepplin.






Doug, or Omouth,O as his friends call him, hails from Williamsville. He is a sophomore tech. theater major who would like to be a sound engineer when he graduates. His hobbies include reading, sleeping and playing pool. Doug has an on-campus internship, is active in the CFA and participated in UBOs Survivor event. His favorite bar is Broadway JoeOs. Doug has traveled all over the United States and in Europe.






Matt is a freshman that enjoys skiing, playing guitar, reading and traveling. This 18-year-old from Plattsburgh, N.Y., is a political science major who has traveled to Australia and New Zealand and works at Abercrombie and Fitch. Active on campus, Matt is involved in the Residence Hall Association, Student Association and plays tennis. His favorite bar is the Pearl Street Brewery, and his favorite band is Guster.






Michael, a biology major, is from Jamestown, N.Y. A freshman, Michael hopes to go into optometry when he graduates. He enjoys sports, performing, downloading music, and Bubble Tea. The 18-year-old is a member of Schussmeisters ski club and is applying for UB STARS and to be a resident advisor. He likes listening to Barenaked Ladies and his favorite restaurant BozanaOs.
