Men's Soccer

Buffalo (4-5-1, 1-1) traveled to defeat Marshall (4-6-0, 1-1) 2-1 Sunday afternoon. Geoff Thompson snapped his own five-game scoring drought to open the game up with his fourth goal of the season, giving the Bulls a 1-0 lead.

A close battle until the waning moments, Mike Peplinski scored a goal in the 85th minute, giving UB what would be an insurmountable lead. It was also Peplinski's fourth goal on the season.

Brett Sobczak of Marshall ruined Buffalo goalkeeper Chris Vavrina's bid for his first career shutout by scoring with 11-seconds remaining. Vavrina made seven saves on course to his first win of the season.


Cross Country

UB men's and women's cross-country teams were in action Saturday afternoon at the LaSalle Invitational. UB's men's squad placed sixth among 10 teams for a total of 163 tpoints. UB's women took fifth place among eight entries, tallying 122 points. Pennsylvania (37) and Cornell (20) won the men's and women's team titles, respectively.

Buffalo's Jeremie Slick was the individual winner for the 8K race, completing the course with a 25:09.63 run, 40-seconds ahead of second place Emory Mort of Cornell.
