Jerimie Slick
Senior Jerimie Slick of the UB cross country squad has been named the Mid-American Conference Men's Runner of the Week as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Slick led the Bulls to a first-place finish at Saturday's UB Open, setting a course record of 25:50 for the 8K race. The Bulls placed the first 12 runners in the 34-entrant race across the finish line to ensure a perfect 15 point score to easily outdistance their three competitors.
Slick has been UB's top finisher in the past four of UB's five cross country meets in the 2002 season. He turned in a season-best time of 24:52.97 to finish second among 43 runners at the Miami Fall Classic on Sept. 21 in Oxford, Ohio. The time was his first sub-25 minute clocking of his two-year UB career.
Last season, Slick became the first UB runner since 1970 to represent the Bulls at the NCAA National Championship. He finished 91st in a 249-runner field in a 10K time of 30:54.
