Congratulations to the over 700 UB students that registered to vote on campus before the deadline. These students, as well as the over 2000 that took registration into their own hands by mailing in their forms, have taken the first step in becoming an active participants in democracy.
I wish to thank SUNY SA Delegate Katie Walsh, Project Vote Smart Campus Coordinator Melinda Mulawka, the Political Science Undergraduate Student Association, Ed Brodka of the Student Leadership Development Center, and all of the volunteers from the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) that spent the final three days before the voter registration deadline outside the Student Union registering students. The campaign was a huge success, and UB students should be proud.
The next step in the democratic process is, of course, voting. This year's elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Remember to get out and vote so that your voices can be heard.
