MAC Football


Last Friday's ESPN2 game between Marshall and Central Florida was the third highest rated of the station's 13 college football telecasts this season. The game earned a 1.16 rating, translating into a viewership of over 975,000 households.


In addition, the crowd of 32,900 in attendance was the third largest in the 12-year history of Marshall Stadium and was the eighth largest crowd ever for a MAC game.





UB's MAC losing streak continued Thursday night as Akron swept the Bulls to win the conference opener for both teams 3-0 at the J.A.R. Arena. Only the third game was close as Buffalo fell 30-19, 30-21 and 31-29. As a team, Akron out-blocked UB 15-6. Lindsay Matikosh led the Bulls with a match-high 18 digs and 10 kills. Buffalo has now lost 43 straight MAC matches.






Buffalo's Tim Connolly and Miroslav Stan both scored with less than two minutes remaining to give the Sabres a 3-3 tie in their preseason game against Toronto on Wednesday night at the Air Canada Centre. Defenseman Rhett Warrener scored Buffalo's other goal.
