Basketball



The UB menOs and womenOs basketball teams released their 2002-03 schedules this week. Highlights of the menOs schedule include battles with Penn State and Northwestern along with MAC foes such as Kent State, who reached the elite eight in the NCAA tournament last season. The women will play host to Colorado and will participate in the Duke Classic. Both schedules in their entirety can be viewed at www.buffalobulls.com.



MenOs Soccer



Wednesday the Bulls fell in an extremely hard fought battle at Niagara University. A first half littered with hard fouls came to an end with both teams tied at one. Greg Galemore scored his first collegiate goal, accounting for the BullsO only tally and evening the score. NUOs Paul Vanden-Boomen scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute.



Volleyball



The Bulls went the distance for a five game win at Binghamton on Tuesday night. UB won the deciding fifth game 16-14. Lindsay Matikosh led Buffalo with 24 kills and 14 digs.



Athletes of the Week



Lindsay Matikosh of the volleyball team has been named the female athlete of the week for her superior play in the Syracuse Invitational. She led the Bulls to a 2-1 record and turned in 48 kills and 31 digs, leading the team in both of those categories.



Male athlete of the week goes to Randy Rocchio of the MenOs tennis team. He began his season at the St. Bonaventure Fall Classic in perfect form. Rocchio went 3-0 on the weekend and won the finale in a 12-10 tiebreaker over the BonnieOs Mikko Haulos.
